Purity has been helping busy mums for over six decades, ever since the founder, Don Thompson developed the first commercially prepared baby food in South Africa, with the help of his wife, a dietician, and a cousin, a chemist.

Purity baby food has always stood for “Quality food, made with love“, but a lot has changed since our company first began. Our range has grown from only 10 types of canned foods to a variety of jarred baby food, cereals, hot porridges, teething biscuits, teas, snacks and treats especially designed to meet the nutritional needs of South African babies and toddlers.

In 1965 the Purity Baby Food brand began producing the first South African jarred baby food in their factory in Ndabeni, Cape Town. The production of baby food was now fully automated and the factory still operates today. To date Purity has over 160 variants across the range and innovation continues to grow the choices offered to moms and their babies.

We believe that looking after mom is as important as looking after baby because after all, it is you that has had to do all the hard work. So in 2009, we introduced a range of products especially for pregnant women.

We aim to be your perfect partner in all aspects of motherhood, so we expanded our business to offer you baby toiletries, through our merger with Elizabeth Anne’s toiletries. The combination of the two trusted brands’ knowledge and expertise makes sure that your baby is getting quality care from top to toe.

We also launched Purity Pedia Kids, a comprehensive range of baby and toddler wellbeing products specially developed to take care of baby and toddler ailments gently and effectively.
