African oil production
This list takes in the African countries which produce the most oil. Rank by the number of barrels produced every day. Some of the countries on this list will not be a surprise at all, whilst the appearance of others may cause you to double take.
Top 10 Oil Producing Countries in Africa as of 2015:
10.) South Africa (191, 000)
South Africa is one of Africa’s richest countries, and this owes much to the one hundred and ninety one thousand barrels of oil every day. Whilst the country still currently imports oil, as it has not reached the capacity to export the natural resources yet, the country’s government is looking to open up new oil wells to expand the industry within the country. South Africa currently needs five hundred and seventy six thousand barrels of oil per day, which shows there is still quite the deficit between both figures.
9.) Gabon (241, 700)
Gabon’s economy is dominated by the oil industry. Oil revenue accounts for 46% of the government’s budget, whilst it accounts for 43% of the country’s gross domestic product (GDP) and 81% of their exports. Gabon’s oil production is in decline now however, with the peak of production being three hundred and seventy thousand barrels a day in 1997.
