Agricultural support for the project has improved the soil quality, rural roads and agricultural practices, reduced land degradation, enhanced farmer capacity, and demonstrated modern agricultural technologies. Irrigation and drainage system with the project, the surface water irrigation system for the 6 provinces has increased by 15, 465.79 hectares from 58, 252.41 hectares to 73, 718.20 hectares. Tube well irrigation systems 3, 313 new tube wells were constructed and 304 existing tube wells were upgraded; 686.62 km rural electric cables and 131 accessories were installed. Water-saving technology - Water-saving technology was applied in 32, 557.90 hectares of croplands, including 1, 048.69 km canals, 570.71 km low-pressure pipelines installed, 294 sprinkle irrigation equipment installed, 4 micro drip irrigation equipment installed, and 18 small reservoirs were upgraded. Supporting WUAs the project supports 11 water users association (WUA) including 2 WUAs in Heilongjiang province, 3 in Anhui province, and 4 in NHAR. Farmers were trained on irrigation management, measurement of water, water fee collection and other aspects, and improve capacity building and management level of WUAs. |
